I'll put this part first: Do not respond to this thread until AFTER rehearsal today. It was so embarrassing to read all of the "I read this!" responses to yesterday's post that said the same exact thing in it. You kind of proved that you didn't read it very well.
Here's the plan for April 10th. I'll post any notes right after rehearsal and those are the ones you need to respond to. Unless we don't get 100% response to yesterday's notes by noon...
2:30 Be around the piano to warm up. We do not have the pit today, so we don't have to rush as much, but we still want to get a good run through of Act 1. So 5 minutes.
2:35 You can physically warm up if needed. 5 minutes
2:40 Grab your mics! Test them.
2:45 We'll start Act 1, but not how we usually start Act 1.
What I'd like to do today and tomorrow is some constructive feedback from the cast. What will happen is this: We'll split the show up into sections. If you are in that section, you'll be working onstage doing your scenes. If you are not in the section, you will be out in the audience watching and giving feedback when the scene is completed. We're not looking to give negative feedback, so please pose all feedback in a positive light. You can choose to comment on character (are they in character 100% including when they are not actively speaking?) , voice (can you understand EVERY word coming out of their mouths? Are they talking too fast? Are they pausing at periods to catch their breath? Can you hear them?) and any other thing that you can think of that would improve or help their performance.
So how this work is we'll do the scene. At the end of the scene, I'll have you stop. The actors in the scene will sit down on the stage and take comments from the audience. The actors can choose comments from those with raised hands. Once all comments are completed, I'll add my own and then we'll move on. Obviously we have some scenes where everyone is on stage, so you'll get comments from me, stage crew and the sound and light boards. It would be great to get some feedback from people not as familiar with the show too.
This is also our tech week, so we are going to turn off the house lights and the backstage lights. so we can work out light cues too. This will also give the sound board time to adjust your sound levels and comment if you forget to turn on your microphone.
Unfortunately, without pit, we only have the music that I recorded to work with. It's not great, but do the best you can do with it. Technically, you should know your songs well enough that you could do them a cappella, but we won't do that .
Those of you that read this, please spread the word. Do not respond or I'll face palm you so hard.
