October 21st through 24th at a glance:
Note: Starting this week, early ending rehearsals are over. We go to 5:00 each day. Plan accordingly.
Monday, October 21st EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE HERE!
Be sure to have all of your character questions completed and posted online by 2:30 pm. We're going to have you sit in the auditorium and I'm going to call you up one at a time and ask you 5 questions from your "homework." You need to answer with the same answer that you had written down. I'm not asking everyone the same questions, so it'll be random as to which ones I ask you. If you miss an answer...you have to do something extra for us.
Afterwards, we're going to do projection work. You will have microphones assigned to you, but you can't always count on them working 100%. If they fail you, you need to be loud enough for the entire auditorium to hear your voice. This is your chance to prove that you have that ability. Choose some lines (either yours or someone else's) from the show and say them as loudly as you can without yelling. You also have to have perfect diction and enunciation. We need to understand every word that comes out of your mouth. You don't have to memorize the lines that you choose, but we do have to hear them from the back of the auditorium.
We'll take a short break and then play some improv games. Here's the catch with this: You will be your character in every game that you play. If your character is Santa, you have to act like Santa at all times. You cannot break character.
If time permits, we'll start talking costumes...
Tuesday, October 22nd: Pages 1-55
We're going to be revisiting the first third of the show, but we'll be adding music and sound effects to the mix. Some of your scenes have music played in the background and we need to figure out how that's going to work. If you've memorized lines, challenge yourself to try to not use your script (or look at your script) when you can. You'll be only 2 weeks away from having to have everything memorized, so it doesn't hurt to try. We'll also be demanding that you always be in character while on stage. We'll run this at least 2-3 times.
Wednesday, October 23: Pages 55-99
Same as yesterday, but with the second third of the show.
Thursday, October 24: Pages 99-132
Same as before, but with the final third of the show. This is the last time that we'll be doing chunks of the show like this, starting the following week, we're actually doing FULL Acts (running each one at least twice.)
As always, make sure that you have your scripts and pencils. See you Monday!
