Basically the same plan as Tuesday with a 2:45ish start with the pit in their area as we run through Act 2 with them.
Tomorrow, EVERYONE gets a microphone. We have never used 23 microphones in a show before, so it may be...interesting. Especially since you still don't have anyone running the sound board.
Remember some basic things:
1) You all have your name or character name on your assigned microphone. Microphones are located on the chairs behind the soundboard.
2) You also have a number on your microphone pack. That same number is on your chair that the microphone is sitting on. That number is significant in a few ways- One, it tells you where to return your microphone when you are done with it. Two, it tells me which lever on the sound board is attached to your microphone. Do not remove your number.
3) You are 100% responsible for the care of your microphone. Always pick up your own mic and be careful of it's whereabouts. DO NOT TELL SOMEONE "Go get my mic for me..." That's the equivalent of "Here. Hold my beer and watch this."
4) Always keep your microphone cord threaded through your clothing. Never leave it hanging loose because you will learn how easy it can be to snag or break a $50-$200 microphone that we cannot replace before opening night.
5) Mic packs are plastic. The floor is cement. You do the math.
6) At the end of each rehearsal (and show) one of your first jobs is to return your microphones to the correct chair. Do not leave them around the room after taking them off. Take the time to return them properly. If we have to hunt you down, we may not be happy.
7) I'll be replacing batteries in packs throughout the next month. I'll replacing them more during show weeks, but there may be a slight chance your battery could die during rehearsals. Just let me know.
8) This is the standard reminders to turn on your mic on stage and turn it off off stage. Be careful with the on/off switch. Don't force it. If you forget to turn on your mic onstage...it won't work. Also, project as if you didn't have a mic. We can turn your voice down if you are too loud, but if you are too quiet...we can't make you louder without squelching and feedbacking the system.
9)Mic tape- Use it if you need it. When you are done with it, dispose of it properly. We should not find it on tables, rugs, the piano or elsewhere.
10) If you break your microphone due to your carelessness, you will be responsible for replacing it. We have this many mics thanks to the generosity of some donors who have gone to past shows and said, "Wow. Their mics suck. I'm donating money so they can get better mics." We can't afford to buy these things ever again, so that's the number one reason we need to take care of them....carefully.
After we finish Act Two and say goodbye to the pit, it's costume time. Please be patient. There are a heck-of-a-lot of you and only one Ashlyn. She'll probably have help, but don't rush her. She'll have some type of system to doing this.
After pics, if we have time, we'll clean up anything else in Act Two that still needs help.
Also, I have picture release forms from MTI that I need you to take home and have signed and returned by Monday. If you don't return it, we have to digitally erase you from the pictures that we sent in. If you are 18 or over, I have "adult" forms for you to just sign and give to me.
See you tomorrow! It'll be 2 weeks until opening night, so no pressure or anything!
