This is to give you advance notice of another change in our calendar.
Traditionally on the Wednesday night before our final 3 performances, we do what we call a "PICK UP REHEARSAL." We do this rehearsal to refresh ourselves and our memories to get ready for our final 3 shows. It was scheduled for 6:00 that night.
Scratch it off your calendar.
This year, your "PICK UP REHEARSAL" will be an actual performance. We've invited hundreds of elementary school students to MPHS to watch a performance of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" and to attend a Q & A afterwards if time permits.
The performance will be begin at 10:00 am which means you'll have to be here at MP by 8:30 am. This will give you time to put on makeup, costumes, etc. and to warm up as hundreds of little children step onto campus for the first time.
Intermission should be at 11:30. Kids and you will get 15-minutes to eat lunch. The show should be over around 12:45 which would give us about 15 minutes for a Q & A with the kids before they go.
The rest of the time in the day is for you to clean up and get things set for Show 4 on Thursday night.
You will be given a permission slip to be excused for the entire day. You'll get this permission slip after spring break and it will have to be returned to me by the middle of April. I'll post reminders and more reminders. You'll only have a week from the day you get it until the day you return. If you are an MG student, be sure to write MG at the top of the slip. I'll take those, put them in an envelope and send them to your attendance people on the hill.
If you forget to turn in a permission slip by the due date, you may not be able to take the day off. That would be bad.
So.. this is just a heads up. Details will be added as we get closer to this date.
For now you have one job. Clear your calendar on May 1st. We need a full cast here along with a full stage crew, tech crew and pit. This is your chance to show the elementary kids what they can look forward to once they come to high school. You're planting "Drama and Band" seeds and you yourself will have a great high school memory.
