If you're planning on auditioning for our production of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" you'll need to do a few things:
1) Set aside whatever you are doing on December 13th and come to our official audition workshop! It'll be held at 2:30 in the auditorium. You can sign up for an audition date and time and be guaranteed a chance to audition for the show. Once all audition dates and times are filled, there will not be more!
2) Pick up an audition packet for the show. It'll be available at the workshop! Read it and fill it out and have it all ready to go for January's audition.
3) Learn the audition dance! You'll need to do a few things for the audition, one is demonstrating your ability to learn choreography. At the workshop, you'll meet our choreographer who will show you a short routine to learn for your audition. You'll have a month to perfect it, so don't panic if you don't get it right away.
4) Find a monologue. A monologue is a short speech given by one person on stage. You can find one from a play, a movie or a tv show or one just written specifically for auditions. We'll have Drama members who have experience with this, and you'll have time to pick their brains to find you the perfect audition monologue.
5) Find a song! You need to sing a song at your audition. This is a musical, and you most likely will have to sing at some point during the show if you get a part. We'll talk about finding that perfect audition song and what you should and should not do during this part of the audition process. Pro Tip: Do not sing anything from "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" or "Cats." Especially, not "Cats...."
6) Practice all three of those items until you think you can practice them no more! This will be a hard show to cast and we're looking specifically for those that are dedicated to making the show great! If you have your monologue, song and choreography memorized, you'll be in great shape. If you can do all three with great effort and feeling, even better!
If you miss the audition workshop, there will be a smaller version in January but you'll be at a serious disadvantage to those that got that extra month to learn everything they needed for auditions. I highly recommend coming to this first one to avoid that disadvantage!
