April 25th is our 14th Annual Senior Matinee!
Here's the info that you need to know:
Call is at 1:30 pm- Note that this is before school gets out. For MP students I will have passes that you can pick up on the 23rd and 24th. For MG students, I'm not sure if my passes our valid. I can create one for you, but you may have to get parental help to excuse you early from school. If you can't get out, or if we can't get you out, just get to MP ASAP.
From 1:30-2:45 You'll have time to put on make up, costumes, etc. The first thing you should do though is sign in and then get your microphone (plus test it)
At 2:30, I'll announce "HOUSE CLOSED" That means no one can be in the "Man in Chair's" apartment or anywhere where you can be seen by the audience.
At 2:45 You will gather around the piano for warmups. This is not optional. You need to drop everything. This is also where we'll make announcements if there are any to announce.
At 2:55 I'll shout something clever like "5 minutes!" That literally means you have 5-minutes before the show starts.
At 3:00 All lights will go down and the "Man in Chair" will take his spot in the dark. The show will begin.
At 4:00ish We'll have the 15-minute intermission (which may go 20 because...old people.)
At 4:15ish, Act 2 will begin.
At 4:50ish, the show will end, you'll do bows and then...
1) Take off your microphones and return them- This will be your first priority every show.
2) You can take off makeup, but leave your costumes on.
3) I'm assuming dinner will be the Commons. You can go over there and visit and listen to the comments from the seniors. They are your toughest critics, but also your nicest critics too. Once all seniors have been served dinner, you are welcome to get food for yourselves.
4) After you eat, come back to the room, clean up and go home...dream of opening night the next day...or not.
One last thing regarding your audience. They're seniors (most 65 and older) They'll be a great audience but a number of them will have hearing issues. If you ever needed to project, this is the time. They will tell you that they couldn't hear you and that would be a shame with our new mics. You may also encounter a snorer or two. We've had audience members fall asleep before, so don't take it personally. I think we're overlapping with their nap time.
If you have a grandma or grandpa that would like to see your show for free and get a free dinner too, you are welcome to invite them! You just need to email Mr. Roehl joshua_roehl@msvl.k12.wa.us and let him know how many are coming if they are eating dinner. If they are not eating dinner, you don't have to email him, they can just show up!
If you have questions, just ask here!
