December 2nd-7th FYIs
This is it. This is what we've been working towards.
Here are the plans for this week and slightly beyond. Please read them and comment on GOOGLE CLASSROOM that you did in fact read them. This information is pretty important and it's all about everyone!
December 2 and 3
You'll note on your calendar that it says 6:00-10:00 Full Run. We probably won't go that late, but we built a nice cushion in there in case there are problems. If all goes well, you should be out of here by 9:30 at the latest.
6:00 is your call time. That is the absolute latest time that you should sign in. If you believe you will be late, you must contact me (425-328-9153) by text or Morgan (see his number in the toilet seat thread.) Just showing up late without contacting us is not acceptable. Also not acceptable is asking someone to sign in for you. We had someone ask someone to do that on a performance night a few years back and we didn't realize until 15 minutes before the show that they were actually not here yet. Your signing in is your proof that you are here, and we should be able to find you once we see your signature.
I want to start these final 2 rehearsals at 6:30 pm to get us out of here by 9:30ish. If you think it'll take you longer than a 1/2 hour to do makeup/costumes/checking props than I will be here at 5:30 for those that need the time. You cannot stay after school and hang around until rehearsal starts. If you need a ride, just ask here. Several people have offered! Also, Morgan may request that certain people come in at 5:30 to work some of our problem areas. If he asks, please do us a favor and come in.
You cannot miss these last 2 rehearsals. This is your final shot to perfect your show. If one person is missing, it'll cause a domino effect that won't end well for anyone. Every part in this show is important to the success of the show. One of the reasons that we put these final 2 rehearsals at night is so there are no conflicts like doctor/dentist appointments, etc.
So the show starts at 6:30. If you're on top of things, the finish time for ACT ONE should be 7:45. We'll do the full 15-minute intermission. ACT TWO should start at 8:00 and be done by 9:00 at the latest. If all goes well, stick around a few more minutes while I talk you through the last part of our show puzzle...the bows!
December 4th, 5th and 6th
Opening Night!...and shows 2 and 3.
Call time is 5:30 pm and I will be here at 5:00 if you need even more time. You have a generous 75 minutes to get ready for the show. You will have no need to rush as you gather your mics and do mic checks, get your costumes, put on your makeup and check your props to make sure they are where you expect them to be.
At 6:30, I will say "House is closed!" That means that you can no longer go past the black curtain at the back of the set on stage. The audience will be coming in and they can't see you and you can't see them. If you haven't grabbed your microphone by then, I hope you enjoy projecting because now you can't get it.
At 6:45, you are required to drop everything and gather near the piano in MC-8. This is not a request, it's a requirement. If we have to wait for you, the less time you get to do warm ups. We do not start warmups until everyone is present. I'll probably have some words for you (and maybe a song on opening night) and Morgan will probably have something to say. Please listen and then your Seniors are going to lead you through the warm up process. If you've never experienced it, it's a great way to get you hyped for the show.
At 6:55, I will say "5 minutes" and then you'll say "Thank you 5" and I'll disappear into the audience. Pay attention to the time. If one of you is willing, you can count down the final minutes before showtime.
At 7:00, the show begins. The doors between MC-8, the hallway and the stage door. We'll have blankets on them to make them close softly. Please do not leave the doors completely open. During the show there should be NO talking backstage unless it is an emergency and in MC-8 the noise should be minimal. If the doors in the hallway are open from both room any noise from MC-8 will travel into the audience. It's a weird thing, but it happens. You can talk, but keep the noise levels down.
8:15 should be intermission and 8:30 should be the start of Act Two. The show should be done by 9:25 if you're doing it right.
After bows, you'll join in the MP tradition that's been around for about 50 years now. You'll go outside through the hallway doors and greet the audience as they leave the show. The Seniors and anyone who has been in a play can explain that.
After the audience has gone, you still have important jobs. 1) Put your mic back 2)Remove costumes and make sure they are hung up properly. Nothing should be on the floor 3) Check your props and make sure everything is back and ready for the next show. You don't want to wait until an hour before the next show to do this. That's just unnecessary stress. 4) You can remove your makeup...unless you don't want to. 5) Clean up MC-8 and make sure it's classroom ready for the next day. The only time you do not need to do this is on Friday and Saturday afternoon. Make sure that you do pick up all garbage and properly dispose of your mic tape. I found mic tape on the rug in a few spots in MC-8 this morning. Please throw it away.
Go home, get a good rest to do it again! There will be no notes posted unless something goes horribly wrong.
On Friday night there is a tradition of going to Denny's but I have no information on that happening yet.
December 7th
Same plan, but different times for the morning.
Call is at 11:30 am and we're gathering around the piano at 12:45. I'll be here at 11:00 am if you need extra time. House closes at 12:30 pm.
Intermission should be at 2:15 and the show should be over by 3:25. That gives you 2 hours to relax because call time for the final show is at :
5:30 pm. Same plan as the other 3 days.
There is a cast party planned, but WE NEED YOU TO RESPOND TO THE CAST PARTY THREAD TO LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE GOING OR NOT. You should've done this by now. If you haven't, do that next.
December 8th
Sleep all day.
December 9th
After school, it's clean up time! We need to put all costumes back in the costume room and tear down the set and put it all away. I'll take care of the props, we just need to put them all on the prop table, so I can do that over the following few days.
The more people that show up, the faster it goes! It's our last chance to be together until we meet again in January because I know you'll want to try out for "Disney's Freaky Friday" right?
Again, please respond on GOOGLE classroom that you read this all. We don't want to find out the hard way that you didn't. Don't be THAT person.
Please keep going over your lines, etc this week! I'm excited for an audience to see everything you've been working on!
