Beauty and the Beast cleanup plan:
This is the last part of the show process. You thought it was over closing night…but you are mistaken. Please plan on being here Monday afternoon for this final part of putting on a huge musical! The more people that show up…the faster this will go! Don’t be THAT person who just doesn’t show up. There’s a place to sign in for this, so we’ll know if you ditched us.
-There are some items or set pieces that only Klem should handle. That includes the rose and anything else breakable that we borrowed from elsewhere.
-We need to dismantle the library. Most books go into boxes and some go back on the bookshelf in the backstage prop room. I’ll probably have them separated before you get here. The boxed books go into the costume room in AC-building. Be sure to remove that clever colored paper we used to disguise the books that were obviously school textbooks.
-The bench goes back into the MC-8 hallway. The book cases go behind the black curtain. We need to remove the tiles from each platform. They may be save-able, but maybe not. The platforms need to be dismantled and put back with the other platforms in the backstage costume room. Make sure there is room to take them back there. Please don’t stomp on any costumes on the way. The book wallpaper will be taken down by Klem because only he should risk his life for book wallpaper. The Styrofoam “bricks” can be saved but remove the tape.
-We need to dismantle the West Wing. Klem will take care of the rose. The plinth goes back behind the black curtain. We need to remove the covering from the platforms. The Styrofoam “bricks” can be saved, but remove the tape. The brick wallpaper needs to be removed. If it’s save-able, keep it. If it gets wrecked, toss it. We also need to remove the windows (be careful!) and the foam bricks screwed to the wall. The platforms can be put back into the backstage costume room. Make sure there is room to take them back there and please do not stomp on any costumes on the way there.
-We need to dismantle the castle. Take off the picture and put it in my classroom. Untie the chandelier from the backside and gently drop it to the ground. Remove the Styrofoam brick panels and save them. Take off the back wall pieces. We’ll just keep them backstage for now after we send back the costumes. Remove the “iron” pointy fences. Those can also go backstage. Take off the stairs. All of the stairs can be put backstage for now. Undo all of the platforms and put them and their legs back into the back costume room. Make sure there is room to take them back there and be sure to please not stomp on any costumes on the way there.
-Destroy Belle’s house and the brick wall. Because Belle’s house broke at a time that I didn’t have decent screws there is actually 2 types of screw used on this set. You’ll need a phillips and square screw head to disassemble this set. 1st do the brick wall side by removing the “bricks’ as best as you can. They are screwed on, your challenge is to find the screws. Save the bricks. Leave the walls until you finish Belle’s side otherwise the entire thing will tip over. On Belle’s side, remove the roofing at the top, remove the wreath and light, and take off the flower pieces and the shutters. Once everything is off, remove the door. Once the door is off, you can start removing the 2 X 4s on the sides that are keeping the 2 walls together. You’ll want someone to hold the walls so they just don’t fall over. Unscrew Belle’s wall first and then do the other one. Look at the floor for where it is screwed into the platform. Same with the other side. Do not dismantle the platform. You can set the walls and platform backstage for now. The pieces you removed (flowers, etc) can go on the prop cart. The screw and other hardware can go on the propcart too.
-Destroy the tavern. This is easy. Unscrew the deerhead from the wall. Take off the base holder. Take off the two “wood” siding pieces. The deerhead can go onto the prop cart. The panels can just be laid by the other stuff behind the black curtain also with the rolling wall that you uncovered. As for the chairs and table and benches, those go upstairs on the right to the upper level of the TAC. We have furniture storage up there. If the doors are locked to the rooms, just let me know. You’ll need to figure out how to put all that furniture back. Good luck.
-The orchestra pit. We need to take off all of the black sheets and fold them up. They are stapled to the walls, so you’ll need to remove them with a staple remover or plyers. Once you’ve discovered the walls, you need to unscrew all of the hinges keeping them upright. Start from the ones closest to the outside doors and work your way back to the stage. You can put the hinges and screws on the prop cart. The walls go backstage behind the black curtain. Some are heavy, so you’ll need 2 people to help get them onstage. If there are any lights or cords, gather them up. The lights go in the laundry basket. Just set the cords on top. Any music stands go into the band room. I’ll take care of the camera, so leave it there. Toss any garbage left by the pit. Any leftover instruments can be left, unless you have someone helping who knows where it goes.
-The sound board. We need to carefully remove ALL of the batteries from the mic packs. If you want to keep them, enjoy. We need to remove all of the tape from the mic packs and from the chairs. Then, just leave everything there. Due to the delicate nature of the mic packs and mics, I’ll take care of putting them away properly tomorrow.
-The light booth- Just make sure it’s clean.
-The TAC- It should be clean because I needed to remove everything before school on Monday.
-Costumes- Ashlynn is in charge of this HUGE job, but she does need help. We need to look at each individual costume for any make up and damage. We’re responsible for returning everything we borrowed from Stadium High School and the Village Theatre in as close to the condition it was in when we borrowed it. If there is damage or dirt, we’ll be charged a crazy amount of money from either place. Some things may need to be taken to be cleaned. We need to figure out what and how to do that. We have to get that done in one week before they go back to their respective places. We do need to separate the Stadium pieces from the Village pieces from the things we either brought ourselves or borrowed from the costume room.
-Props- I’ll put most of these back myself. You can take the cups you purchased home. If you brought something do take it home by Monday otherwise it will be sent to the prop room over the next few days. Throw away the bread. For the torches, we need to remove the top parts (undo the duct tape) and put the flame/flashlight bits into a box. We have a box that is designated for them.
Other things=
The Dungeon- Remove the “bricks” from the side and over the dungeon. Remove and dismantle the bars. The wood can be tossed into the woodbins in the costume room. The “bricks” can just be set behind the black curtain somewhere…with the other “bricks” from the castle.
Gaston’s chair- Remove the antlers- You can toss them or save them for your very own deer costume. The chair goes upstairs to the upper TAC furniture room.
Beast’s chair. Remove the cloth covering up the fact that this is actually a little chair made bigger. Some of the cloth is stapled on, some is duct taped. We’ll probably toss the cloth, so if it rips…no big deal. Toss the foam too. Take the chair off of the platform. It goes to the upper TAC stairs on the right side. It’ll go into whatever furniture room has room.
The table- Remove the stapled on table cloth. The items on the table and the cloth can go on the prop cart.
The bed- The fancy “pillows’ belong to Stadium High School (fun fact, one is actually a dog costume that they tried to use on a dog. It did not go very well.) Those go in the costume room. The other pillows and blankets go in the costume room backstage. If you look up on the top shelf, there are a bunch of pillows and blankets up there. Add them to the pile (along with the ones we used to muffle the doors on show nights). Deflate the bed and remove the bed from the platform. We won’t dismantle the bed. Just leave it as is behind the black curtain. The inflatable bed needs to be removed and left by the prop cart. I’ll take care of it.
Fog machines can be unplugged and placed upright in the backstage prop room. I’ll box them up and them away.
The fireplace can be unplugged and placed in the backstage prop room.
All extension , rope lights and power strips can be collected and placed in the backstage prop room.
Recycling- We need to empty all of the recycling bins in my room. Most of the stuff is from the cast.
-Make up- Any make up that you brought should be taken home by you. If you want us to keep something, you can leave it on the prop cart.
-Your personal bins in the costume room- Be sure to remove anything that is yours and take it home.
I probably missed something obvious here, if I did feel free to point it out or we’ll discover whatever it is on Monday!
Drama Council- We need to meet Monday to do a couple of things:
-Fill out the reconciliation form for the show
-Do a pros and cons of the entire “Beauty and the B east” experience. What went well…what did not. What should we remember for next year.
-Order our trophies and approve a requisition for them (not in that order)- Have ideas for trophies if you want to change it up this year.
-Talk about the upcoming elections. You should recruit possible replacements. We were short people this year and you could’ve used that help!
-Talk about your awards show. This is your final thing and you want it to be memorable (in a good way.). Please plan it out and make it worthwhile to all those that attend. If you’re doing an opening number, have it rehearsed. Plan out the entire night! If you just plan on passing out awards, it’ll be over in 20 minutes.
