I've been noticing some blank spots on the sign in board on these days where we asked everyone to be here.
Weird thing is...some of those blank spots are from people who were here.
Please, if you haven't yet, make it a habit to sign in to the board 1st thing when you arrive to rehearsal! It's actual evidence that you were here. Remember you only get 3 absences so any blank spots on the board automatically turn into an "A" for "absent" by the time rehearsal is over. There may be some unnecessary "A"s in your spot if you haven't been doing this important task.
The reason that we have you do that is so that Ashlyn and I know who is missing by the time rehearsals start at 2:30. We'll check to then to see if you messaged, emailed or wrote on this board that you would be gone. If we don't see that, we'll ask other cast members if they've seen you today. We'll then either call or text you or email you and ask "What's up? Everyone needed to be at rehearsal today and you're not here." If we see you are here and didn't sign in, we will either remind you that you forgot, or if we're feeling cranky mark you as absent and then have you show evidence you were actually here once you notice you were marked absent.
PLEASE DO NOT HAVE OTHER CAST MEMBERS SIGN IN FOR YOU! I see this from time to time and it completely defeats the purpose of the board. One year (on a show night) we had someone sign in for another cast member who was not here yet. At 7:15 when we gathered around to do warmups, I asked if that person was here. "Well, they signed in so they must be here." They weren't. Panic ensued. The cast member had taken a nap and didn't wake up until we called him at 7:16. They got here fast and barely in time for their entrance...but THATS WHY YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE OTHER CAST MEMBERS SIGN IN FOR YOU. You think you're doing someone a favor, but you're not. If Ashlyn or I see you doing this, we will call you on it.
So, long story short: Get here, sign in and then do whatever you need to do before 2:30 pm. (Oh, and DON'T SIGN IN FOR OTHER PEOPLE)
