..but you're here.
As I sit here sweating and typing this after hauling things to and from the costume room, I can't help but notice cast members (who are not working on choreo) not really doing anything at all.
Here's some things you could and SHOULD be doing:
1) If Victoria is not available, or is available, work on your music that you've learned. Seriously, you cannot go over music TOO MUCH. You should have it in your head so well that you can easily sing your part whenever it comes up.
2) Learn your lines! If you have lines in the show and spent today doing nothing, I will not be forgiving to you when we go off book (aka without scripts). Seriously, with the snow days that we've had, you should have your lines memorized by now if you've been working on them like we asked. The deadlines for learning lines for Act 1 and 2 are coming up sooner than you think. Specifically:
Act One: March 6th (2 weeks from tomorrow!!!!)
Act Two: March 20th (4 weeks from tomorrow!!!!)
On those dates you will not be able to have your scripts on stage. Are you ready for that?
3) I have jobs! We have an entire library to stock with books, but we can't stock them with the books that we have. We need to make book covers for the hundreds of books that will be on the library side of the stage. I'll have supplies for that later this week (hopefully)
4) I have jobs 2! Council remember when I asked you to clean the costume room by the classroom so we can put in new costumes that we'll be renting? Why am I do this?
5) I have jobs 3! We need to clean up the other costume room on the other side of campus. I was in there today....oof. What happened?
6) Go over choreo that you've learned and go over it often. There are some things that we will go over often and some that we won't go over often. Either way, like lines and music, it should be drilled into your head so you can do it without thinking about it.
7) Watch! Whether it's choreography, music, blocking, etc....watch how things are evolving. There's some things where we need extra eyes or help with. Be a useful member of the cast. If you're watching choreography and see someone struggling, you can help out!
8) Work on school work. If you go to MP, I can see your grades and what you are missing in your classes. If you are failing your classes, I'm going to be your worst nightmare (after your parents).
9) Help with planning! We're going to be needing cast members to help with designing and creating the lobby display and more! If you're an idea person, this is your chance to shine!
10) Don't just sit there. When I worked at McDonalds they loved to say, "If you have time to lean, you have time to clean." I don't have anything that witty and clever, but take a look at numbers 1-9 and choose one. We're asking you to give more than 100% on our show, and when you're doing nothing...you're giving us 0%.
Thanks for reading so far. This isn't your test this week. I'm saving that for Ashlyn. Look for her thread on t-shirts. If you don't respond to that one....you don't get a shirt.
